This is a Provisional Appointment.
If appointed, candidate must take the Nassau County Civil Service Custodian exam when it is next offered and obtain a reachable score.
Must obtain fingerprint clearance from the New York State Education Department.
Performs a variety of semi-skilled repairs to the school buildings, such as heating, electrical, masonry, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and roofing.
Sweeps, mops, washes walls, dusts, and performs other cleaning duties.
Operates a variety of automotive and maintenance equipment.
May operate a heating system-low pressure steam boiler, hot air furnaces, or hot water boilers.
Assists in snow removal, and may cut grass, plant trees and shrubbery rake leaves, pick up debris and perform other ground maintenance work.
Paints rooms and equipment.
May direct traffic for protection of school children.
Other job duties to be discussed at interview.
